Amid rapid recovery in global aviation, Shenzhen International Airport is breaking traditional hub boundaries through its exceptional route network and high-quality services, demonstrating strong competitiveness on the international stage. The recent launch of the "Shenzhen-Barcelona" intercontinental route brings the airport's international and regional passenger routes to 31 cities across five continents, showcasing its ambitions as a world-class international airport.
This year has seen significant growth in both passenger and cargo operations at Shenzhen International Airport. For the first seven months, passenger traffic ranked second nationally, while cargo volume showed particularly strong upward momentum, with domestic cargo volume maintaining the top position nationwide. This performance lays a solid foundation for Shenzhen's economic openness and global influence.
Supported by favorable policies and collaboration with major airlines, the airport has rapidly restored and expanded 18 international and regional passenger routes, including 11 intercontinental routes connecting multiple global cities. These developments are transforming Shenzhen into a critical node in international aviation networks.
While expanding its route network, Shenzhen Airport prioritizes passenger experience. To meet peak summer travel demand, the airport collaborated with airlines to add nearly 20 popular routes, significantly increasing flight capacity and coverage, with average load factors exceeding 90%. Operational improvements include reducing minimum check-in times for domestic flights to 40 minutes, enabling faster boarding processes.
Beyond passenger services, Shenzhen Airport has established industry leadership in air logistics. Benefiting from rapid e-commerce growth, cargo throughput doubled year-over-year in the first seven months, injecting new vitality into Shenzhen's economy. Through strategic partnerships with leading cross-border e-commerce companies, the airport is building more efficient air cargo networks to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation.
The airport continues to upgrade infrastructure and services, recently earning consecutive "Five-Star Airport" certifications. Enhancements include dedicated service zones and comprehensive ground transportation improvements, all contributing to superior passenger experiences.
Facing intense global competition, Shenzhen International Airport demonstrates a dual-drive model of excellence in both passenger and cargo operations. With ongoing route network expansion, the airport is strengthening connections with international metropolises and innovation hubs, positioning Shenzhen for greater global economic significance and advanced development.
