Chengdu's Air Cargo Industry Welcomes New Opportunities Multiple Logistics Projects Accelerate Development

The Chengdu air freight market is set to welcome the construction and operation of several new logistics projects, including the SF Express Western Air Freight Hub and the ZTO Express Southwest Headquarters. The completion of these projects will significantly enhance logistics efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and further consolidate Chengdu's position in the air logistics sector, aiding regional economic development.
Chengdu's Air Cargo Industry Welcomes New Opportunities Multiple Logistics Projects Accelerate Development

As competition in Asia-Pacific aviation logistics intensifies, Chengdu has undeniably become the shining star of Southwest China's logistics sector. The focus now shifts to how industry players can seize opportunities and enhance operational efficiency in this dynamic market environment.

This year marks a new wave of logistics infrastructure development in Chengdu, with several air cargo-related projects set to commence operations, further solidifying the city's position in the aviation logistics market.

SF Express Spearheads Development with Western Air Cargo Hub

The SF Western Air Cargo Hub project, located east of Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, is accelerating its implementation. The facility is expected to complete installation and debugging of its intelligent sorting system by August before becoming fully operational.

This new core air cargo station for SF Express in Chengdu boasts modern facilities and efficient functional design that will significantly enhance cargo distribution capacity. Project manager Yu Sen emphasized that the hub has global influence as SF's flagship project in western China, featuring round-the-clock, high-efficiency cargo handling capabilities.

The completion of this project enables "seamless transfer" of SF's inbound and outbound cargo in Chengdu, eliminating previous cumbersome transshipment processes. This innovation effectively reduces freight costs while improving delivery speed - a strategic move to expand SF's market share in Sichuan and surrounding regions.

Logistics Giants Expand Chengdu Footprint

Other logistics companies are also actively expanding in Chengdu. The DHL-Sinotrans Southwest International Express Transfer Center became operational late last year, marking another milestone in enhancing Chengdu's air cargo capacity. Equipped with automated sorting systems and integrated with airport customs systems, the center has dramatically improved transfer efficiency.

In June, ZTO Express will complete its Southwest China headquarters project. Promoted as an integrated "smart logistics + cloud warehousing + new retail" solution, the facility aims to build a robust e-commerce logistics ecosystem that will attract upstream and downstream enterprises, introducing innovative logistics models to Southwest China.

Additional projects under construction include China Eastern Airlines Logistics' cold chain facility and Transfar Supply Chain's smart hub, collectively strengthening Chengdu's growing air cargo network. Officials recently confirmed these projects will not only improve operational efficiency but also deliver faster, more convenient services throughout Southwest China.

Chengdu's Aviation Logistics Shows Strong Growth Potential

Amid these developments, Chengdu's air cargo market demonstrates remarkable growth potential. The completion of these major logistics projects promises to propel Chengdu to new heights in China's air freight industry. Through rapid response capabilities and service optimization, Chengdu will achieve improved cargo connectivity, faster delivery times, and lower costs - supporting both local and multinational enterprises.

Chengdu's aviation logistics sector not only exhibits strong momentum but also provides powerful support for regional economic transformation and upgrading. With continued optimization of transportation networks and deepening industry cooperation, Chengdu stands poised for even broader development prospects in the years ahead.
