
LANZHOU, China — The city of Lanzhou has officially approved the feasibility study for its Northern Freight Station project, marking the beginning of construction for this significant logistics hub in northwest China.
The new facility will be built in Zhonghe Town, Gaolan County, with a total planned investment of 120.1 million yuan ($16.8 million). The station will cover 20,620 square meters and include comprehensive facilities such as sorting and transshipment workshops, transit and distribution warehouses, goods receiving and delivery halls, loading/unloading equipment rooms, maintenance facilities, as well as parking and loading areas.
Authorities have set the project's construction period at 22 months , with completion expected in late 2025.
The Northern Freight Station is designed to optimize logistics resource allocation in western China and support the development of Lanzhou's logistics industry. Local officials anticipate the project will significantly upgrade regional logistics capabilities and provide new momentum for economic growth in the area.
As one of China's key transportation hubs along the ancient Silk Road, Lanzhou continues to strengthen its position in domestic and international freight networks through infrastructure projects like this new freight station.
