Chongqing has received approval for its second Type-B bonded logistics center, marking a significant step in enhancing the city's foreign trade capabilities and economic development, according to an announcement from Chongqing Customs.

The newly approved Nanping Highway Bonded Logistics Center (Type B) follows the Tuanjie Village Railway Bonded Logistics Center (Type B) as Chongqing's second facility of its kind. This development represents an upgrade in the city's bonded logistics services and is expected to inject new vitality into regional commerce.

Type-B bonded logistics centers are nationally approved, centralized supervision areas operated by domestic corporate entities. These facilities allow multiple enterprises to conduct bonded warehousing and logistics operations while sharing public infrastructure and resources - a model designed to improve operational efficiency and professional standards while optimizing resource allocation.

The 0.137-square-kilometer Nanping center is strategically located within Chongqing's Nanping Trade and Logistics Base, featuring superior transportation connections. The facility enjoys direct access to multiple expressways including the Inner Ring, Ring, Yu-Xiang, and Yu-Qian routes, forming an efficient transport network. Its proximity to a freight station with annual throughput capacity of 10 million metric tons and the Southeast Ring Railway further enhances its logistics capabilities.

The center is positioned to meet growing demand for bonded commodity display and services, particularly from cross-border e-commerce businesses. Its location offers advantages for both domestic distribution and potential trade links with Southeast Asia, potentially establishing Chongqing as a key hub connecting China with ASEAN markets.

Initial operations will focus on comprehensive bonded services including storage, inspection, sorting, packaging and distribution. The center plans to adapt its business strategies flexibly in response to market demands and customer needs.

Analysts view this development as aligning with China's Belt and Road Initiative, noting its potential to enhance trade facilitation in western China and strengthen Chongqing's position in international commerce. The project is also expected to contribute to the China-Indochina Peninsula Economic Corridor by creating new platforms for regional economic cooperation.

Local economic benefits are anticipated across logistics, warehousing and distribution sectors, with significant job creation and income growth potential. The center's establishment is expected to stimulate growth across related industrial chains while reinforcing Chongqing's transportation infrastructure.

Chongqing Customs has committed to ongoing collaboration with relevant departments to optimize the center's operations and service quality. Municipal authorities plan to improve policy environments and modern logistics systems to further develop the bonded logistics framework.
