Malaysia Airlines announced plans to increase flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kunming and Xi'an starting next year, as part of its strategy to expand operations in the Chinese market.
According to an official statement, the carrier will introduce three weekly direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Kunming, along with two weekly services to Xi'an, pending final agreements with Chinese authorities.
The airline also revealed a 700 million Malaysian ringgit (approximately $150 million) investment program to upgrade its Boeing 777-200 and 747-400 aircraft. The enhancements will include improved first and business class amenities, the installation of third-generation lie-flat beds, and new in-flight entertainment systems to meet growing passenger expectations.
This expansion initiative aims to capitalize on China's rapidly developing aviation market while increasing route coverage. Malaysia Airlines stated the upgrades are designed to deliver an enhanced travel experience for passengers on these routes.
