If "buy globally, sell globally" represents the ultimate dream of cross-border e-commerce, then an efficient international logistics network serves as the foundation to realize this vision. China Post Group's recent announcement about the upcoming launch of its South China Postal Aviation (International) Hub Center during the 2024 IATA North Asia Cargo Day and Guangzhou International Air Cargo Hub High-Quality Development Conference marks a significant step toward this goal.

The move demonstrates China Post's commitment to establishing Guangzhou as a competitive international logistics center and accelerates the realization of its ambitious vision: "local goods to the world, global goods to Guangzhou." The new hub is expected to significantly enhance Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport's competitiveness as a global freight and postal express hub.

Existing Infrastructure and Future Plans

China Post currently operates four major logistics centers at Baiyun Airport, including the Guangzhou Air Mail Processing Center, Guangzhou Air Mail Processing Site, Guangzhou South China Land Mail Processing Center, and Guangzhou Processing Center. These facilities collectively handle over 5 million mail items daily, providing robust support for mail processing across southern China.

Beyond the immediate expansion, China Post is actively planning to invest in the construction of a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Aviation Hub in Guangzhou. This strategic hub will serve as a comprehensive air logistics center connecting trunk routes, serving the Greater Bay Area and Guangdong province while linking domestic and international networks.

Enhanced Logistics Capabilities

The new facilities will incorporate multiple functions including domestic and international air cargo terminals, express mail processing, international mail consolidation, cross-border e-commerce customs clearance centers, and integrated warehousing and distribution spaces. These developments are expected to substantially upgrade China Post's logistics service capabilities throughout the Greater Bay Area and nationwide.

The launch of the South China Postal Aviation Hub, coupled with plans for the Greater Bay Area Aviation Hub, will further strengthen China's international logistics network and provide more robust support for cross-border e-commerce development. These initiatives position China Post to play an increasingly vital role in building efficient global logistics systems, facilitating Chinese businesses' global expansion while streamlining international goods' access to the Chinese market.
