Kadhdhoo Airport, locally known as Kadhdhoo Airport, serves as a vital aviation hub in the picturesque Laamu Atoll of the Maldives. Located approximately 3.7 kilometers northeast of Fonadhoo, the airport is operated by Maldives Airports Company Limited and provides essential air connectivity to the Haddhunmathi Atoll region.
Situated at an elevation of just 1 meter (4 feet) above sea level, the airport features a single runway oriented 03/21. The 1,220-meter (4,003-foot) long and 30-meter (98-foot) wide runway was constructed in 1982 and officially opened for operations in 1986. This infrastructure enables the airport to accommodate larger aircraft, supporting both passenger and cargo services.
Kadhdhoo Airport primarily handles domestic scheduled flights, with regular services connecting to major destinations including the capital Malé and Gan Island. These connections provide crucial transportation links for both tourists and local businesses, contributing significantly to regional economic development.
The airport's strategic location in the Laamu Atoll makes it an important gateway for visitors exploring the southern Maldives, while also serving as a lifeline for local communities and commerce in this island nation renowned for its pristine beaches and luxury resorts.
