As global e-commerce continues its rapid expansion, the Chinese port city of Tianjin is optimizing its express delivery sector to create a comprehensive "land-sea-air" logistics network aimed at enhancing cross-border e-commerce efficiency.
Wang Dong, director of the Tianjin Municipal Postal Administration, recently outlined the strategy's implementation progress and future development plans during a press briefing.
Dongjiang Port E-Commerce Logistics Park
Leveraging Tianjin Port's geographical advantages and free trade zone policies
The Dongjiang Port Cross-Border E-Commerce Express Logistics Park is rapidly emerging as a key hub serving northern China's cross-border consumer markets. Centered around bonded warehouses, the facility integrates international express delivery with cross-border e-commerce operations, with planned daily processing capacity reaching 400,000 parcels.
Major domestic cross-border e-commerce platforms including NetEase Kaola, Xiaohongshu, and SF Express have already established operations in the park, creating significant clustering effects.
Wuqing E-Commerce Logistics Park
Capitalizing on regional e-commerce resources, the Wuqing E-Commerce Express Logistics Park has developed a comprehensive logistics service system anchored by e-commerce warehousing and distribution centers. With daily processing capacity projected at 10 million parcels, the facility has attracted industry leaders including Cainiao Network (Alibaba's logistics arm), JD.com, VIP.com, and Dangdang.
As part of its expansion, the park is integrating e-commerce companies' proprietary logistics networks into the broader express delivery management system. Plans include attracting headquarters of major delivery firms and nurturing local express enterprises to create a more robust logistics ecosystem.
Airport Logistics Park
Adjacent to Tianjin Binhai International Airport
The Airport Express Logistics Park boasts first-tier air cargo terminals, express transfer centers, and e-commerce distribution facilities. Currently housing 15 industry leaders including SF Express, YTO, ZTO, and Yunda, the park processes 1.1 million parcels daily—accounting for 37% of Tianjin's total express volume.
"This logistics hub has not only optimized delivery efficiency but also significantly improved overall service quality," Wang noted during his presentation.
Future Development
Tianjin plans to further integrate its express delivery networks with e-commerce operations, building a more efficient three-dimensional logistics system. These efforts aim to provide stronger support for cross-border e-commerce development and enhance the city's competitiveness within China's national e-commerce landscape.
