DP World Opens First Logistics Warehouse in Singapore

In a strategic move to capitalize on growing global logistics demands, Dubai-based DP World has launched its first logistics asset in Singapore, marking a significant expansion of its Asian operations. The new multi-user bonded warehouse, spanning approximately 13,000 square meters at Mapletree Benoi Logistics Hub, is positioned to serve increasing trade flows between China and Southeast Asia.

Singapore's status as Southeast Asia's financial hub and its strategic geographic location make it a critical node in international logistics networks. This new facility represents DP World's latest warehousing project in the Asia-Pacific region, complementing similar operations in Hong Kong and South Korea's Incheon. The company currently manages over 800,000 square meters of warehouse space across Asia-Pacific, forming an efficient logistics network.

Strengthening Regional Capabilities

"This new warehouse enhances our logistics service offerings," said Glen Hilton, CEO and Managing Director for Asia Pacific at DP World. "By integrating our Singapore, Hong Kong, and South Korea infrastructure, we can deliver more flexible, efficient, and reliable logistics solutions to our customers."

Since relocating its Asia-Pacific headquarters to Singapore in 2021, DP World has more than doubled its local workforce. The company now employs over 10,000 staff across the region, representing nearly 10% of its global workforce. This growth trajectory reflects both the company's expanding operational footprint and its strategic ambitions in Asia.

Strategic Acquisitions Fuel Expansion

The Singapore facility launch follows a series of strategic acquisitions by DP World to bolster its logistics capabilities. Over the past year, the company acquired Singapore-based Legend and Global Logistics, along with completing purchases of Savan Logistics and Cargo Services Far East. Additionally, DP World announced a $50 million investment to establish a new logistics center at Busan New Port.

"We remain committed to strategic market investments that enable us to deliver exceptional service," Hilton noted. These moves collectively strengthen the company's ability to support global supply chains and reinforce its market position in the competitive logistics sector.
