In today's increasingly interconnected global trade landscape, air freight has become a vital link connecting international markets. WorldAirways recently announced the launch of a new cargo route between Xi'an in central China and Nuremberg in southern Germany, marking another significant boost to China-Europe trade.
The weekly service will utilize DC-10F freighters with a payload capacity of 65 tons, significantly enhancing the export capabilities of Shaanxi Province. This strategic route comes in response to growing freight demands between the two regions.
Shaanxi Province's manufacturing sector has experienced robust growth in recent years, with many export products destined for European markets. As multinational corporations establish operations in Xi'an, the city's exports now include high-end consumer goods such as toys and electronic products, while imports primarily consist of machinery and components.
Data shows Xi'an's export value has maintained an annual growth rate of 15-20% over the past three years. To support this expansion, Xi'an Xianyang International Airport is preparing for future cargo development with plans to expand its freight handling center to 40,000 square meters, plus an additional 10,000-square-meter covered facility to accommodate increasing cargo flows. The airport handled 65,000 tons of cargo last year.
Nuremberg Airport's Managing Director, Gurlan, revealed that WorldAirways will increase flight frequency to three weekly services starting January next year, upgrading to MD-11F freighters with an 85-ton capacity. This represents a 20-ton increase per flight, facilitating greater trade volumes between China and Europe.
WorldAirways currently operates a fleet of five freighters - three MD-11Fs and two DC-10Fs - providing solid capacity for its expanding operations. The new route not only strengthens trade ties between western China and Europe but also injects fresh vitality into Shaanxi Province's economic development.
